Lotus Furniture: Coming Together!!

Today I visited the wood shop of master artist Christopher Quist Kautz to check on progress of our new, yoga-inspired line of furnishings called "Lotus Furniture".  Our first pieces serve as both altars for yoga practice and storage pieces for mats, blocks and straps.  Christopher's work is flawless: he embraces Japanese techniques, uses domestic hardwoods and environmentally friendly adhesives.  I am a huge fan of his Cranewalk line, so he seemed the perfect artist to construct our prototypes for the line.

Parents can't help but want to be involved in their children's world.  With the occasional bout of mischievous behavior aside, my parents are no exception to this rule.  And so, when I can, I sneak them onto a jobsite for a tour.  After 2 and 1/2 years of reporting about the design and construction progress of our job in Whitefish, I invited my father to Montana see for himself.  The wet Spring weather proved to be a challenge, but did not stop us from venturing North to the Flathead Valley.

This week, Mountain Living magazine let us know that we have been selected as one of the top design firms of 2010!  We are honored by the acknowledgement and thank the fine folks at Mountain Living for the nod.  Look for the article in the September issue.  We are happy to represent Montana in the design world and hope to continue to contribute towards style and architecture in our region!
